About This Vacancy
Within DAF, numerous cost-reduction projects are underway in the chassis domain, especially related to axle and cab suspension systems. Your role is to technically assess cost reduction and supplier selection projects, determining their feasibility from vehicle integration and supplier capability perspectives.
These parts are critical for vehicle handling, durability, and safety, involving axle suspension knowledge, manufacturing processes, DFSS, and supplier coordination.
Your Responsibilities
- Coordinate development or supplier reallocation of existing components with internal stakeholders (engineering, purchasing, validation) and external suppliers.
- Translate cost-reduction project goals into robust product requirements.
- Monitor design & validation plans to ensure cost reduction results with timely delivery.
- Evaluate manufacturing processes and their impact on costs, performance, and robustness.
- Provide technical recommendations and feasibility analyses to management.
What We Expect From You
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
- At least 3 years of experience in mechanical/hardware engineering within a product development environment.
- Solid understanding of axle suspension systems, vehicle dynamics, or mechanical subsystems.
- Strong analytical skills with hands-on experience in DFSS and problem-solving techniques.
- Experience with cost reduction projects is a plus.
- Effective communicator capable of bridging technical design, supplier discussions, and project management.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
- Good command of English; willingness to learn Dutch is a plus.
- Experience in the automotive industry is preferred.
