About this vacancy

The Vehicle Layout department is part of the Product Development organization and is responsible for the definition of vehicle layout concepts, component layouts and providing input for the Programme Description Book. The team consists of a total of 7 Vehicle Layout Engineers and Property Owners and is working on several different vehicle projects.

Function Description

The Vehicle Layout Engineer is leading packaging teams and DMU sessions in the definition, concept and engineering phase of vehicle projects. Also you will be working with the input from Product Planning, internal departments within Vehicle Integration and with Vehicle Engineering on the optimal solutions for the customer.

What we expect from you

As a Vehicle Layout Engineer:

• You lead and support packaging teams who work on new vehicle layout concepts which serve as input for the next development phases in which you engage in Simultaneous Engineering (SE) teams

• You prepare and lead DMU sessions in which 3D-representations of the vehicle are reviewed with a team of stakeholders to assess progress, maturity and/or readiness

• You take into account all relevant stakeholders like Engineering, Operations, After Sales and Product Planning while developing the layout concepts

• You have a broad knowledge of the product, its applications and the customer needs and wishes

• You perform preliminary studies, feasibility investigations and define criteria and boundary conditions for designs

Function Prerequisites

You have a Bachelor or Master’s degree, preferable in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering and experience with CAD systems, preferably Siemens NX. Relevant experience within the automotive sector or in a Product Development environment is a pre.

In addition you:

• Are a team player with strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills in English;

• Have a pro-active, result-oriented and pragmatic attitude and are able to work effectively within all levels of the organization

• Are able to translate the needs and wishes of the customer/end-user into concrete technical solutions

• Have extensive technical knowledge and are analytically strong

Practical Information:

Salary depending on education level, seniority, and relevant experience.
